Antique 17th- 19th c German or Austrian Heraldic Armorial Shield Ceramic Tile
Antique 17th -19th century German or Australian, shield-shaped ceramic tile deeply hand carved with a coat-of-arms including heraldic shield surmounted by two partly gilt crowned peer helmets with visors, capped by wings crest and adorned by acanthus leaves mantling. The blazon with the two trout fishes with its head up (to chief) and tail down (to base base) on a field of blue and mud red. All richly glazes in green and blue and mud red glaze,the top pierced for hanging.
CONDITION: in very good condition no cracks or repairs, except for the one minor chip on the pointed rim of the shield, and the other small chip on the gorget rim of the helmet on the left site. The back of the tile has been recently polished with wax
