Antique 17th Century Baroque Crucifix Cross Wood and Pewter Clad
Antique 17th century Baroque Crucifix cross, composed of wood clad by a sheet of repoussé pewter with cast pewter figure of Christ in the center the head of the Christ with long hear and out of crown of thorns, adorned by very unusual in style radial Eye of Providence and INRI monogram scroll, a windswept perizonium is tied at the waist of the lord. The hands and uncrossed feet are nailed to the cross. Beneath finely repoussé in low relief is a Miter or "Pope Hat “and depicting the heavily draped Virgin with Latin script below. The arms of the cross are decorated with the repoussé in low relief open book on the left and an the right with stole and censer There is INRI monogram scroll, skull with cross bones and small ornaments fastened individually by minute nails. The base is adorned in repoussé floral ornament.

CONDITION: In its original condition showing the age and usage, slightly worn some pewter clad missing.
