Antique 18th-19th Century North African Sephardic Jewish bronze Hanukkah Menorah lamp.
The Lamp is composed of three separately cast bronze elements, joined together by pegs and soldered at the back. The backplate is decorated in openwork with scrollwork motifs adorned with a notched pattern. Shamash flanked by a pair of birds, the top surmounted by a suspension ring with a fleur-de-lis finial. Bottom affix with oil holder with four square oil containers, each with two pronounced spouts for wicks.

This Hanukkah lamp is decorated with openwork scrollwork motifs and adorned with two small birds, showing Polish influence. It resembles Hanukkah lamps used by Polish Ashkenazic Jews.
This is unsurprising since Polish Jews maintained trade contacts with the Ottoman Empire and North Africa for centuries.

Width 13.5 cm (5.31 inches).
CONDITION: It shows its age and uses with a dark patina.

PROVENANCE:
Acquired from an old Canadian collection of Polish antiques and art, including Judaica.
