Antique 19th Century African Islamic Hausa stirrups In Turkish Ottoman Manner
A pair of ornate, antique, 19th century, African Islamic, Hausa warrior brass horse stirrups, made in Turkish Ottoman manner. Each with very high, strongly curved treads/footplates pierced in the center with rosette and surmounted by an arched crossbar with a hexagonal suspension loop. Sides are engraved with a complex geometric motif. One of the stirrups cast with the funnel to rest upon, the bottom of the lancer's lance a spear-shaped pointed shoe of the staff.
