Antique Armorial Bronze Sundial Dutch Heraldic Crest Coat of Arms
Large and very heavy antique armorial cast bronze octagonal sundial with aristocratic Armorial Heraldic Crest, Coat of Arms, composed of two oval cartouches depicting the individual arms, between lion supporters and below a Dutch marquis' Coronet.
Since the Coat of Arms is surmounted by the Dutch heraldic marquis' Coronet, it is most likely that the sundial was custom made in Holland for a Dutch Aristocrat.
CONDITION: In good condition, showing the age and usage with beautiful dark green patina, some minor paint spots.
The front and back of the sundial, in fact, is much darker as it shows on the pictures since we had taken photographs under strong light to show all the details. On the back are remains of the two completely corroded iron bolts that attached the sundial to the base.
DIMENSIONS: 33 cm x 31 cm (12.99 inches x 12.21 inches).
WEIGHT: 10.34 kg (22.8 lb).
