This tall, deep ceramic bowl features a slip cover and a splash glaze, resting on a short, disc-shaped foot.

The inner walls of the bowl are divided into four panels by radiating lines painted in green. Each panel is adorned with brown, drop-shaped cartouches.

Two of these cartouches contain lobed leaves on the inside, accompanied by incised scrolls, and are surrounded by green and brown dots.

The other two cartouches have brown triangles decorated with green and brown dots. All the designs are painted on a beige ground.

The exterior rim of the bowl has a brown scroll pattern under the glaze.

The drop-shaped cartouches and the three colors—beige, brown, and splashed green dots—are characteristic of Fatimid ceramics from the 10th to the 11th century AD (364 AH – 441 AH).

NOTE: Splash-glazed Abbasid pottery is rare and seldom seen for sale and in museums.

CONDITION: Exhibits signs of age and an old patina, with repaired breaks.
