Antique Miniature Portrait Of Turkish Ottoman Sultan Or Pasha On Snuff Box
A rare antique snuff box from the 18th-19th century, made of lacquered burr wood, features a circular form with a lid that is meticulously hand-painted. The lid displays an intricately detailed portrait of a Turkish Ottoman Sultan or Pasha.
He is wearing a recognizable Turkish Ottoman turban adorned with a string of pearls and a green caftan with pink lapels set in a gold-gilt copper frame. The interior has a lacquered tortoiseshell appearance.
The miniature may have been specially commissioned by the Ottoman court and presented as a gift to a notable individual, possibly a member of the Sultan's court or a foreign diplomat.
CONDITION: in its original condition, free of repairs or restorations, minor abrasions to the painting and the box, overall in very nice condition.
