This is a magnificent antique sculpture made of gold gilt bronze, dating back to around 1900 AD, which depicts a Portuguese knight named Saint Dom Nuno Alvares Pereira, also known as the Condestável (1360-1431). He is widely considered as the greatest strategist and military genius in Portuguese history, having won all battles fought despite leading forces that were outnumbered by the enemy.
He is holding a sword and wearing full armor, a tunic adorned on the chest and sleeves with his coat of arms.
The craftsmanship of the sculpture is exceptional, with all the details of the armor and the knight's head hand-chiseled with fine details.
The sculpture is mounted on its original marble base, which has a brass plaque on the front. The plaque is hand-inscribed with the words "Nuno Alvares," "Barbeitos," and "Lisboa."MEASUREMENTS:
