Art Deco German Dancer Tänzerin Mänade Maenad by Karl Tutter Hutschenreuther

Rare antique German Art Deco porcelain figurine, The Dancer - Tänzerin Mänade Maenad by Karl Tutter HUTSCHENREUTHER Selbe Bavaria Circa 1929 - 1936.
This is an outstanding, superbly crafted, German Art Deco porcelain sculpture depicting a kneeling young dancer in an expressive pose, white porcelain glaze and painted with soft pink, purple yellow, and light brown colors, on a diamond-shaped base, signed with the artist’s signature “K. Tutter”, the rim of the base is highlighted with golden details.
The bottom of the base marked in green, Hutschenreuther, Selb Bavaria Abteilung für Kunst.

This is a very rare model that doesn’t come frequently to the market, most of the Tänzerin Mänade figurines are just white with gold highlights, and a figure painted with these particular colors is extremely rare and unique. We could not find a Mänade figurine painted with these colors in any references. 

Karl Tutter, Germany, * 1883 † 1969
The well-known German artist Karl Tutter (1883-1969) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna for four years. During and after the First World War he was held prisoner in East Siberia for six years. After his return to Germany, he started to design for the Hutschenreuther Manufactory in 1922. He worked for Hutschenreuther for almost four decades with a superb national and international reputation. His designs were very popular and he was even awarded with the important Bayreuth Prize.

CONDITION: Absence of fingers on the left hand. No repairs or restoration.
