Huge old Japanese Geisha Courtesan Doll Showa Period
Huge old Japanese doll, Showa period (1925-1989) depicts a Bijin Geisha courtesan in a pose, performing traditional hat dance with six hats. Beautifully hand-painted silk face, wearing large hat, her hair adorned in front and sides with hair pins and hair ornaments. She is elaborately dressed in a gold brocade, red silk kimono, woven with flowers and leaves with a contrasting gold brocade, dark brown silk dangling obi, patterned with various woven Japanese samurai family’s crests (Mons). Gracefully standing on rectangular wooden platform, with ruffed wooden board, hand painted Japanese characters.
MEASUREMENT: Height: 61 cm (24 in), Dimension of the base: 30 cm x 24 cm (11 3/4 x 9 1/2 in).
CONDITION: Excellent according to age, with no damages or repairs.
