Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Black Silk Sumer Robe
Antique 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty Summer Robe constructed of a very thin black Silk finely woven with numerous round medallions which each enclose a pair of five-clawed Dragons amidst clouds bordered by black Satin silk panels and trimmed with blue satin silk adorned with precious Buddhist and Taoist emblems and auspicious motifs. The sleeves are with large lavender cuffs skillfully woven in pattern and embroidered with birds, flowers, and butterflies.
Due to the fact that the market is flooded by reproductions of Chinese robes and older theatrical robes which for inexperienced collectors look the same, we would like to inform our clients that this is a 100% authentic antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Robe and not a reproduction, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
DIMENSIONS: Approximately when placed flat: Length: 94 cm (37 in), Width (distance from cuff-to-cuff): 170 cm (67 in).
CONDITION: The robe in general is in good condition considering its age, and the material from which it is made of, except for a small tear at the front of the robe on the orange edge of the blue satin silk trim; however, this can be professionally stitched. We do not perform any repairs or restorations on our antiques. There are no holes or applied patches. Please note that this is an antique over 200 year old textile which was well used, so a perfect condition cannot be expected. The picture of the damage is attached to the listing. There are no other holes or applied patches.
This Robe comes from an old Canadian collection of Oriental Art, including many Chinese robes and related items which we are in the process of photographing and placing for sale for the first time.
